Join Us
A dedicated group of amateur, semi-professional, and student musicians who love to play beautiful music together.
We perform free scheduled concert programs each fall and spring, sharing our love of music with the community. Our group enjoys playing in a variety of venues, including schools, churches, community centers, outdoor festivals, and concert halls. In addition to large performances, we also provide music for smaller events with duos, trios, or quartets. Through these performances, we aim to bring music to diverse locations and audiences within our community.
Current Music and Schedule
We are currently rehearsing the music chosen for our ‘Folk Songs and Stories’ themed concert. Music includes selections by Percy Grainger, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Aaron Copland, and other cozy winter-related themes from recent films and artists.
Our weekly rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7pm -9pm at Blacksburg United Methodist Church
Concerts will be held on Friday Dec. 5, 2025, 7:00 pm and Sunday Dec. 7, 2025, 3:00 pm at Warm Hearth Village Center
Meet Our Music Director
Our orchestra is led by Music Director and Conductor Matt Chan, who has a long affiliation with BCS and has served throughout the years in various roles – as principal 2nd violin, assistant concertmaster, concertmaster, and interim conductor before accepting the permanent position on the podium in 2022.
Matt currently also plays violin with other community groups in the New River Valley and Roanoke Valley areas.
